HashBank mobile app
WINNER of the NatWest Bank/RBS Hackathon London. #bankofapis
The Brief
To design an exciting and innovative app utilising the banks’, soon to be released to the public, application programming interface (API).
Team
Ismail Malik (finance brain), Julien Bouteloup (tech brain) and myself (design brain) on a hackathon for NatWest Bank and RBS. The HashBank team came first place against some fierce competition.
DURATION: 48 HOURS
METHODS AND SKILLS USED DURING THE PROJECT
Personally I created the hypothesis for the project, proto-personas, user flows, user journeys, the feature prioritisation & wireframes (in collaboration with Julien), with a storyboard presentation at the end drawn and created by myself, written as a team.
The Solution
An app linked to users bank accounts that allows shoppers to put their bank transactions out to tender, thus finding a better price. The app gives businesses the opportunity to offer their services directly to customers keen to find businesses like theirs.
The Process
It was a full on sprint from beginning to end, designing like crazy, pooling ideas and along the way even managing to hold a Design Studio.
David:
“I'm sure there are plenty of companies that would be cheaper and offer a better service”
“I just haven't got time to trawl the internet for hours”
The Storyboard Presentation
Because of the nature of the hackathon the slides for the presentation only took four hours to create in their entirety, and there was no room for error with the illustrations. The end results were very well received.
The Winning Team
Here's team Hash Bank. That's Julien on the left, myself in the middle and Ismail on the end. Tired, but all looking rather pleased with ourselves.
Thanks!
A big thanks to the NatWest/RBS team, and of course to all the great people I got to meet over the hackathon weekend - the most incredibly switched-on bunch of individuals I have ever seen in one place at the same time.
“At the RBS Hackathon I met Jon Dawson. I was impressed with his artwork, designs and UX.”
